Eastern Cape Communication Forum (ECCF)
A well-informed citizenry that participates in the development of their communities and holds local government to account through access to credible local independent media.
• To strengthen and professionalise the local independent media sector in the Eastern Cape
• To assist in building local independent media that is inspiring and creates active citizenship
• To capacitate civil society organisations (CSO’s) and other stakeholders in communication and media liaison skills.
The ECCF is a non- profit organisation (NPO) registered in 2008. The organisation is committed to strengthen local independent media in the Eastern Cape to ensure adequate citizen participation in the democratic processes of the country. It provides capacity building in form of workshops and on-site support to local media. The support is based on specific needs and skills of local media. The organisation has a strong understanding of the importance of local media and their day-to-day challenges.
The ECCF is in partnership with Walter Sisulu University (WSU) which creates mutual benefits for community media organisations and journalism students.
